Perfect balmy weather has settled over Northern California and a race is on in the rear patch. It's East (983 Ciliberto) vs.West (846 Calai). East now leads by a nose.
The Ciliberto's fruit hit 70" circ. at 20 days to the Calai's amazing 75". The race has slowed down a bit since then, but the Ciliberto at day 25 now holds a slight lead at 214 OTT to the Calai's 211 with both fruit packing on about 20 pounds a day.
I was rooting for the tiger/dragon Calai, but the Ciliberto is breaking loose and does not seem intimidated by the dragon's smoke or the tiger's roar.

If you have a slow internet connection, this page takes a while to load... go get a cup of coffee and think about getting a dsl line.
Amanda holds the biggest pumpkin flower
ever seen on this planet.
These plants never cease to amaze me. The flower shown above came off the dragon Calai - the incredible, mystical cucurbit extraordinare.
