Thanks for the encouragement, Alun.   There is a new development today -
perhaps you can shed some light.  The fruit is oozing a clear liquid
around the top where the stem meets the flesh.  This is like a small
puddle in one area.  I dried it up and it hasn't come back, but I am
afraid a soft spot is developing right there.  What do you know about
this?  Is this from over-watering?  I measured the circumference, btw,
and got 43" this morning.
