RE: & the Birds
I had a feral black cat in my patch last year (affectionately named
'Patch'). This year, there are about four of them lounging in the patch on
a regular basis. I think they like to prove that my varmint fence does
nothing to stop them or the ground hogs that like to perch on top of my
pumpkins (before they get too tall). I don't mind the cats at all, but need
to get rid of 'Chuck' and 'Chuckie' (the babe of Chuck who my wife thinks is
just adorable, I can't even joke about killing him...I told her I wasn't
joking!)
Columbus update: I have one 10' out on the Maston 570 growing at 5" per
day, was at 44" this morning. About 20' out on the vine, I had three
females in a row. One opened Friday, and the other two opened yesterday. I
have never seen two females open on the same vine at the same time.
The other plants aren't even showing females yet, but 4 are starting to run.

personally I'd rather have Tweety in my garden rather than the "tootsie
rolls" kitty leaves in the garden!!!!!!! My cats are all the indoor variety,
but the neighborhood cats love the soft tilled litterbox I provide for them
complete with a giant(one always hopes) orange cat toy!!!
:-)
Cyndi in Ma.
(my main has split to 3, and each have imature female flowers starting)
