Today is my 1st
day on my July vacation and went out to check on my 945 Van, 1062 Rivard,
& 871 Wentzell early this morning. Just pulling some weeds and moving a
couple vines and here he came. This is my 1st year in attempting to grow giant
pumkins and never even seen a Squash Vine Borer, but I continue to read daily
and seen a photo of this insect. I knew it as I seen it, that it was no good. It
reminded me of them damn monkeys of Wizard of Oz. Anyway, I got my Sevin and
applied an application right away. I applied Sevin 1 week prior of seeing this
destructive insect. Question is, what now? I went back out about 30 minutes
later and found 2 more buzzing around. Both of them landed on a leaf and acted
like nothing was wrong. I killed them both and confirmed that it was a Squash
Vine Borer. Please give any advice you may have.
Thanks.
