Torrance report

  Hi friends
Well here is the new Torrance report.. Just pollinated a female on the 611 Hester 99 with a really large male from the 900.8 Lyons. As I closed the female back up a petal split to near the base I zip tied the flower then ran really fast to find ANYTHING to secure the split took about 5 feet of toilet paper and wrapped the flower and embryo like a mummy.. Will pull it off later this evening so it won't get wet and become a mess...
The open pollination on the 611 looks great and is in better vine positioning than the one I did today which is exactly on the bottom of the vine but the long stems on this plant put it in an expectable position.
900.8 Lyons has a nice fruit on the main and even though two days past pollination is growing nicely.. many pumpkins on back mains that are growing GREAT !!

758 Smith real problems here hope you can help.... One pumpkin pollinated (Open) on the main is on the inside of the quarter flag, One pumpkin will form on the Outside but is really scarred already from leaves and tendrils. Looks like it might grow through it but not sure.. One more male on main will open in about five days is growing straight down.. Looks like I may have to cut quite a bit of plant away if I am going to let the inside pumpkin form and on a limited space plant this is not good !!! Wish me luck !!!!

I am not spraying the plant with fungicide / Mildicides / insecticides right now as the pumpkins are still babies and in the cell division stage. Worried if I do it will slow cell growth and ultimately give me a small pumpkin .. I have aphids and am just holding my breath for a few days while the embryonic pumpkins get a running start...
WOW this growing is getting harder by the year the more I mess with the plants the more they mess with me !! OH WELL Take care all and have a wonderful season !!!
