FW: 869 Calai flat vine / 1020 Papez FLAT VINE ? 5ft of 1020 goes BYE-BYE

Subject: RE: 869 Calai flat vine / 1020 Papez FLAT VINE ? 5ft of 1020 goes BYE-BYE

I finally cut back the 1020 to just after some normal secondaries,  this message didn't get thru with the actual pics so I'm reposting without them and just the links.

You's make call this a flat vine but this is definitely a mutant in my opinion. Reminded me of an alligator; leaf stems were coming out of the underside.

Here's links to these & a few other pics in case these pics don't come thru:

Was the 567.5 Mombert a flat vine?

I posted 6 new pics of the 1020 Papez & 594 Smith flat/double/mutants at the
below link on BigPumpkins.com; there's also a close-up pic of a pair of
Squash Vine Borer eggs laid within 1/2" of each other from last year.

After hitting the 1020 with some water soluble 30-8-8 this week, some
"normal" secondaries are appearing, however, they are growing more
vertically instead of horizontally, and the main vine's "dual" leaves are
still wrapping under the vine and coming out the other side, as well as a
multitude of tendrels strangling nearby leaf stems. Some of the males on
this plant also have leaves at the base of the flower cones instead of the
typical petiole "spikes", similar to the 594 Smith (791 GLASIER(567.5
Mombert self and sibbed) X 723 BOBIER.) While I think the pics may be an
interesting contribution to the AGGC, I think they're the "wrong color of
green" so I can't research any family trees beyond the above plus what Andy
contributed about the Shymanski 825.5 genes in the 1056.5 Dueck. Any more
growers with similar problems on plants having similar family tree members,
please post. Thanks.

Mark

Same here.  My 1020 has gone totally flat at about 6 ft long.  I split the
tip last night.  If that doesn't work, its secondary vine time.  But like
you said, there's damn few of those!

I have to agree,... my 1020 is a mutant .... 4 inch thick flat vine, 24
inch
leaves (young leaves) growing like a BUSH squash!!!! unbelieveable looking.
The main (flat) vine is about 10 feet now, no signs of buds (female flowers
yet) and it is not splitting off and no real secondary vine to speak of
yet.

I think this plant is going to turn into a pollinator.

Anybody out there have a 1020 Papez that is growing a normal vine?
