Hi all, have not had much time to reply to any postings since I am amazingly busy raising my "punkins" as well as pumpkins. I am in Fresno, yep we had 107 and today is forcasted 110. Now, last year I did not use either shade cloth or misters. Yes, I had wilt, but the plants always recovered within 2-3 hours. Yesterday I put up a shade cloth after coming home to find my pumpkins nearly even with the soil in their wilt. Let me tell you after putting up the shade cloth in that heat I knew just how they felt. Today, using only the shade cloth, I come home to find pumpkins only 5% wilted at most. They recovered much quicker also. I do not find that giving them any extra water makes them come back any quicker. I have one female that I pollinated yesterday and I am crossing my fingers.
Thanks to everyone who posts on this list. I appreciate the generosity with which you folks share information.
