I guess this confirms what we thought :)))) He

Subject: AG growth rate.
Fellow Growers--I don't have any to measure yet but some
growers do so I
thought I would trot out my "rule-of-thumb" that is a
guideline for good
growth.I have found that all my biggest followed this
rate quite closely.
Day 10--20" circumference
Day
20--60" "
Day 30--100" and a bit more
for a good rate
The days are from pollination and circumference is
the conventional
Stellpflug method,ie horizontal and parallel to the
ground with the AG lying
on its side.I do not include the protrusion at
the blossom end of the fruit
in the measurement.
I believe if they
grow much faster or slower than shown above the October
results will not
be good.
Of course different climates may cause different growth
rates.The above
numbers are from eastern Ontario.
If any of this
is unclear to newer growers please ask your questions.
Cheers--Al
Eaton
