Tim,
I was waiting for someone with more experience
to answer your question, but here goes...
Generally, one per vine and not one per plant is
what most people think is best. Didn't Kirk Mombert
grow 4 pumpkins each over 900 pounds on one plant?
Regards, Cliff
Tim Cliff is right as far as what I do. I try not to cut down to one per plant unless I have one that is just kicking butt. Other wise you may have a problem is something happens like a woodchuck or a deer takes a bite, or eats one of your pumpkins.
I try to stay to one per vine, but first I let a couple on the main vine get at least basket ball size, then I sometimes cut the other off.
I would stay with the best 2 pumpkins on your plant. One on the main vine and the second on the secondary vine. I have seen three 700+ pounders on one plant. The best I have ever done is one 500 and 625# on one plant.
Good Luck
