Re: Question and Sayre PA update...
I have a leaf growing over my biggest fruit, and this is what I do. I
take a few rubber bands, link one or two together, and CAREFULLY bunch
the leaf up so I can slip the rubber band over the bunched up leaf so it
is on the stalk of the leaf by the fruit, I then take the other end of
the connected rubber bands, slip it over a leaf on the other side of the
vine, so when I slip it over that leaf, it will pull it away from the
fruit, very little stress, and it saves the leaf by the fruit, atleast
for a while..
Eventually, it will have to come off...
Sayre PA update...
Bobier 723 - Set 10 fruit, now shutting down all male and females on the
plant, still some plant growth needed, so only terminating some side
vines right now that have reached the edge of the patch. Of the ten
fruit, my 7/7 set of a 5 lober (now reffered to as "Hailey") is at 27
inches, which is on day 12.. coming along nicely..
Eaton 780 - This plant pollinated every 723 Bobier fruit I set, as that
is the cross I sought when I started this year. Vice versa with the
fruit on the 780 in crossing with the 723. I only have 3 fruit so far,
as I lost my first decent one on the main ths week, and the plant hasn't
thrown too many females for me to work with.. I have 2 on the main, and
one on a secondary.
ROckwell 771 in patch 2 - Set my first two fruit today, possibly threw
me a squash! It is a Checkon 815 descendant, so I think it is the "start
green, turn yellow later" routine. Only difference is the fact these
aren't dark green stripped like the fruit you get to start from with the
815. Time will tell..
Basically, it is nice to be back in the game.. after getting the hail
storm at such a young age of the plant.. I hadn't switched from 15-30-30
yet, as I needed more plant, but this week I am moving to the 20-20-20
to promote the fruit growth a bit more, and less green..
