Re: tooting ones horn

I had a very big ground squirrel that was laying waste to both my yard and my pumpkin patch.  A local nurseryman told me they didn't like the smell of garlic.  A few chopped up garlic cloves sprinkled next to the developing females solved the problem.  A couple chopped up cloves down the entrance to his burrow and he moved out of my lawn into the empty field out back.  He's still fat and happy because I see him at the birdfeeder every day, but the pumpkins and the lawn are no longer being attacked.

Subject: tooting ones horn

Well folks, I should have known better than to toot my horn.   I wrote
earlier that I had no pest or disease problems.(knock on wood)  Wrong!  I
pollinated three female flowers.  One yesterday and two this morning.  Went
to check on them this afternoon, and only one is left.  AHHHHH!!
Its all due to a fuzzy grey creature who sits on my stoop and looks cute, and
begs.  Its probably my own fault for feeding her, but darn it she always
looks so cute.  Any suggestions for keeping them out of the patch.   PLEASE,
NO suggestions that include killing the squirrels, I will do anything but
that.      Thanks,    Barbara
