George,
Thanks, what kind of fungicide would you recommend?
The turkeys have become a serious problem around our farming community. They are not true wild turkeys in that they are a released domesticated turkey introduced to the area years ago. They are protected also. You know, there is a fine line between environmental / wildlife protection and complete idiocy.
My patch is already fenced and has a top wire at about six feet, they fly over it. I have been harassing them every time I see them and they tend to give us a wide berth, but now and then they come back. I have tried windmills, but they only work when there is wind and since the bastards come around in the morning when there is never wind; the windmills don’t work very often. They don’t even look twice at our dogs either, and since the turkeys don’t run from them, the dogs don’t care either. I have heard that crushed moth balls keep turkeys away, but that is not very safe with our livestock, kids, etc…
So, I guess I am stuck with throwing rocks at ‘em every time I see ‘em. The rocks work better than firing the shotgun, because they hit or hit near them which seems to spook them more than the noise of the gun which I can’t legally shoot them with.
Thanks all, I think I am doing OK in my first attempt at growing an AG. Despite not preparing like I should have and am starting to do for next year, I have four big ‘uns set with OTT’s of 110”, 104”, 85”, and 56”. They sure are not gaining like I would like, only 2-6’’ OTT per day, but it has not been below 95 degrees here for two weeks.
Thanks and sorry for the longish post.
Dale

I would put some fungicide on those
nibbles. Your should put up a fence turkeys might wipe you out in short
order. Add top wires to spook them. |
