Hi everyone,
What does the list members recommend to put under the pumpkin and on top of a pallet.  I know this has been on the list beofre, but I didn't pay close enough attention.  I was thinking of rubber squares that are used on flat roofs for large commercial buildings.  Let me know, thank-you.

Frank I have never set a pumpin on a pallet. I have heard it has been done many times but for me I try to minamize vind stress. Having the pumpkin growing another 4 inches off the groud only makes it tougher to keep the vine loose.
The main thing you want to consider is that when the pumpkin starts to get tight on the vine, how are you going to move it.
A piece of styrofoam work great or even a couple pieces of bubble wrap, back to back. All you want to do is slide the pumpkin around so it doesn't tear it self off the vine.
Having the vine a foot or two off the ground is all the stress I can take.
Having the pumpkin tear itself loose breaks my heart.
You know you must be in love when every pumpkin that you lose breaks your heart.
Good Luck
Bill
