My Question

Ok I have a Holland 1049 growing very well, and it has two pumpkins on it one is quite a bit bigger and is my biggest pumpkin. I am afraid the pumpkin 2 is taking away from big guy and I guess I need to cull it. Pumpkin two is on a secondary with a strong buried vine. My question is can I just cut the vine at a tape root and hope pumpkin 2 keeps growing without hurting pumpkin 1? Pumpkin 1 is on the main vine and has a bit of god growth but cutting the vine at pumpkin 2 will take about a fourth of the plants leafs. Should I just bite the bullet and cull pumpkin 2 or should I try to make two plants out f one?
