Generic
questions I will answer them as best I can…
- Depends
on the type of soil and climate.
One could write a dissertation on this topic. Generally, you want to have a
consistent program. Some 500+
fruit have been grown with no watering whatsoever.
- Generally,
most growers allow the plant to grow to fill their space, it is not
dependent on the placement of the fruit. I would try to pollinate everything until you get a 40-50
lb pumpkin that you know is good and solid before picking off females.
- Depends
on the bugs. Generally, I
kill all bugs except bees.
You will get bugs in the flowers since you don’t spray inside the
flowers. If you have a good
insecticide program, they should die before doing any damage to your
leaves.
- Again,
grow the plant to fill the space.
If your pumpkin slows down, nipping off a few ends of growth may
kick it in again. Most of the
serious growers only grow secondary vines (vines directly off the main
vine), no tertiaries (vines off the secondary vines).
The rest
of you can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Subject: INFO
1. Should you water every day?
2. How far past the pumpkin should
you let the vine grow or just let it keep going and pick off the pumpkins?.
3. Should I try to kill the little
3/16 inch bugs that are all around just the flowers or will they start to
eat the leaves?
4. Should you let all the vines from
the main vine grow and pick off the new little pumpkins or are they taking more
out and not helping the pumpkin I am growing and should you just nip off the
end so they wont grow and just leave what is there alone?
Thanks for any help.
