I really hate to ask, but what is a "male flower"? I like eggs, flour and butter so it sounds good.
Hold your pinkie finger up! If the inside of the blossom looks like that it is a male. It has male pollen all over it.
How hold all 5 of your fingers together and look at it. The inside of the female looks like that. The key is it has a pumpkin (baby behind it). I get up in the morning and look for male blossoms on a good plant and pick at least 3 before I go do artificial insemination.
First I take the outer edges off the bloom about 1 to 2" inches back then I thump the male blossom with my finger (just like you are flicking something between your thumb and first finger). After that I pull the rest of the pedals off and gently wipe the rest of the pollen around the female blooms center. I do this several times then cover the female blossom, and hope for the best.
If you look out in the garden that night and your female blossom has a glow from a cigarette, You Did Good!
Good Luck
