Ok, here's the proposed California patch tour and picnic. Start at Bob
Troy's at 6 a.m. Bring hiking boots. From there we should be able to see
Pirate Kevin Smith's big one peeking over the housetops.
11 am: the new growers Jon Hunt met on his recent trip to Long Beach;
short stop.
Lunch in Lake Arrowhead and a seed auction to pay for the caravan's gas.
On to Sierra Madre and Doug Parker: 3 p.m.
Can't stay, headed for Janet Miyamoto in Fresno. She will hold up her
largest so we can see it from the freeway; Hi, Janet!
Over to Borchard Farms for a snack, then up the coast to Farmer John's
in Half Moon Bay before heading for the patches of Chris Andersen and
Becky Steward: 6 p.m.
Quick stop in San Rafael to see Connie Giambra's beauties, then hurry up
to Santa Rosa and Kathie Morgan and Mr Ray Barenchi.
Eight pm: Boonville and Brock Farms to see the progress on Caliph's
first one-grand pumpkin.
Napa: 9 p.m. Dinner with the legendary Pete and Cindi Glasier, then over
to George Webster, Jose Ceja, Gary Miller, Greg Stucker.
Up to Yuba City 10 p.m. for deep-fried turkey with Dennis Houser, then
drop down into Elk Grove for a midnight visit to the patches of Jon Hunt
and Ken Mitchell.
Over to Nevada 2 am and we'll see Pine Nut's Patch before calling it a
day. Anyone else want to be included, let us know.
