Culling (or killing) plants
I have 5 plants in 1 area of my patch. I need to remove 3 of them. The 2 I
choose might be a little close to each other but I can send them down
different sides even though they start out in basically the same place. I
don't want to depend on just 1 plant in my first year. I have been putting
this off because I find it hard to part with them and I don't want to make a
wrong decision. The vines are between 2 and 3 feet on most of them. There are
a couple that are in a better position them others, but them my favorite isn't
really in the best position. One has two main vines coming out of it, the rest
are single main vines (for now) What should I do to decide? I guess measure
growth is the obvious thing. Would you say positioning is more important then
growth. A couple have female flowers starting already a foot out. Does this
mean those will be stronger since they are producing blossoms sooner. Any
ideas? BTW thank you to everyone for the answers on my other questions on vine
position and watering. This is my first year and I don't know what I would do
with out this resource.
Thanks,
