Amelia,
The female flower is open for only one day. Your window of opportunity for
pollination is very brief. Ideally you should pollinate early in the day before
it gets too hot. Prematurely opened male buds can not be used as the pollen is
not ready yet.
Don't panic...... your AG plant will eventually have females and males that will
open at the same time.......at least they usually do.

Amelia here in Iowa where it suddenly turned cold and rainy today!
My first female flower is wide open right now, but not one of the male buds
is open!
Will the female flower open again tomorrow? Can I prematurely open a male
bud?
