Buttercup Says Goodbye

I cut Buttercup from the vine yesterday. Hard to do - but she
would have split within a week. I did it for her own good.
Her blossom end was so thin I could flex it by pushing lightly
with my thumb.

Final measurement: 82" circ at 20 days from pollination.
Estimated weight 176 pounds. You can wave goodbye at:

My fastest start ever....... I just went with the wrong fruit
on the vine. I saw when the fruit was young it had badly
asymmetrical rib lines so I shoulda culled it right away. But,
it was in a perfect position on the main vine and was growing
fast so I didn't do it earlier..... In my enthusiasm, I also
wacked most of the perfectly fine fruit off the side vines.

Live and learn...

I'm now going with a fruit on a side vine that is 20" circ at
ten days. Her name... Butterball Too.
