Re: Odd Pumpkin Shape and Color

Dogg, Being fairly new at the Atlantic Giant adventure I can only offer
limited advice, but here it is. Dill's Atlantic Giant commercially purchased
seeds are seeds from open pollinated fruit. That means that no one knows where
the male pollen came from. That being said, you could be growing a fruit that
will show more squash traits than pumpkin...more green than orange. If you hang
around this list and check out some other online
resources...bigpumpkins.com...etc., you should be able to pick up some seeds from some controlled
pollination pumpkins that are more what you are looking for in end results...if
you want green, you can get green...if you want orange, you can get orange. I
grew generic seeds last year and ended up with 154# peanut shaped, orange
fruit. Very cool, and a learning exp. for me. This year I have 6 plants going
with known background, and already have a nice round orange fruit approaching
200#. Keep askin ????'s, have fun, and Grow 'Em Big!!!!! Peace Wayne
