"Did I just do THAT to my pumpkin???"

Happy 4th of July!

Yeah....so I was adjusting my main vine...which I have done countless times...when.."SNAP!" My heart dropped. I nearly decapitated my baby!
Here is my question.... I broke the main vine about 2 feet from the end...I would say a 70-80% break....the bottom of the vine was still attached. I quickly secured the vine as best I could, immobilized the vine into the soil so it appeared to be unbroken....and then covered the area with lots of soil. This was about 3 hours ago, and she still looks fine.
Has anyone done such a thing? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I know I will have an answer in a few day for sure...but a little comfort, or reality now would be good.
I have lots of secondary vines that I could train to be the main...but that is only if I have too.
Thanks!
Ben
