I was wondering something along the same lines. How long after pollination can
a female abort? I have read that they can abort on their own up to a basketball
size. How long before you know if a pollination was successful?
How long do you let the vine grow past a female that was pollinated?

I think it's more likely that the later pollinations didn't take at all -
maybe because it got hotter?
