Re: Preen question

Preen contains a chemical that effects a seed that is about to germinate. It has no effect on plants already growing. Having said that, because the way AG's grow, why risk the potential of damaging your plants? When you plant an AG the goal is to grow the biggest and best pumpkin possible. I would rather sweat away with some hoeing and hand weeding than risk phototoxicity to my plants. There are enough challenges you will face growing a big one. However, on a calm day with good distance from the pumpkin plants I have used Round-up sucessfully. This may be a better choice since it is a contact herbicide and leaves no residual. Remember though, one little slip up and you can do irreparable harm to your plants. One grower posted on this forum a while back the following advice: Play like Santa and Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho.

Hope this helps.
