Non-round pumpkins, but Footballs

In this first year of growing, many mistakes are being made. However it is
successful
enough to be exciting. I was wondering how detrimental to the end size it is
when
a pumpkin starts out with a very football shape? I was forced to keep them
because of
time frame issues. Also does anyone take any measures to keep the plant from
doing this. Almost all of my fruit are footballs. Haha, that makes me laugh
when I say it.
