This is Bilal, the 14-year old, giving an update on my pumpkins, here in
Phoenix, arizona.
MY dill seeds never sprouted when i planted them in late may. it was
already surging past the 100 degree mark. i then tried growing them
indoors in peat pots. they grew fine indoors, but when i put it in the
ground, it died a few hours later. in AZ, the earliest planting time for
pumpkins is Early February. that was when i planted my Burpee
Prizewinner Hybrid. actually, i planted them in late April. on one of
them, i am SO HAPPY, because it is so big. i am a first time grower of
any kind of pumpkins, so anything over 10 pounds excites me. it is 58"
in circumference and weighs about 53 pounds. i put no shade over the
plants, and water them twice a day. i give it miracle gro once or twice
a month. thankfully, the dry heat will go away for a few weeks. the
monsoon season officially started today. we will probably get high
humidity and hurricane force winds, lots of dust storms, lighting, and
some rain. our first storm will probably come next week or the week
after that.
