I grew my first Giant Pumpkin plant last year. I only had one plant live so the male and female flowers were on the same plant. I got one pumpkin and saved the seeds. This year I have two plants growing both from last years pumpkin. One plant has two pumpkins on it both very green. The other plant has had four pumpkins start and all of them started out yellow. The lone pumpkin I had last year was yellow from the start. I am wondering why there is such a difference in the fruit when both plants have such a common gene pool. Is this common with Giants? Could something else gotten in there this year to add to the mix? This year I have some squash in the garden. Or is it just a latent gene being expressed in one plant. I am just curious. ken -- kendye@community.net
