Joe,
Yes, I have the same problem just as you have described to the letter. I
thought I had too hot of soil as the tips of the vine are on the ground and
the new leaves open up while touching the soil, this causing leaf burn. I
have 4 plants and they all have it to some degree. I have not applied any
chemicals in the past 3 weeks and it still happens but not as severe. I
also quit smoking in my patch thinking I might be starting that tobacco
virus. I cut off 1/2 of a leaf last week to remove the bad portion and
tonight I looked at the leaf up close and it's doing fine. It just has a
thin white edge. My husband grows Hubbard squash on the other side of our
property and has the same soil amendments . No problems in his patch. Let
me know what you find out.
