I've had the best luck tying up the males that are going to open tomarrow
morning the night before. And like wise tying up the females the night
before. The at the break of dawn I let them go at it, and then tie the
female back up to prevent any bee contamination. I know this souds pretty
cruel, but thats the way it is in the pumpkin patch.
I've heard other "experts" tell me that many male and female flowers are
only viable for about 12-24 hours. I'm not sure if that is true. I've
had best luck as described above- I think it works with the way nature does
it-- most bees fly early in the morning, and most flowers open then
too...... coincidence??!!
