The steering committee of the GPC is aware of the problem of the smaller
sites not only having difficulty coming up with the site fee but also the fact
that it is tough to get prize money back with most of the bigger pumpkins
coming from up North. If corporate sponsors come on board the site fees can be
lowered and there will be more prizes to share. I like the idea of regional
awards like the largest pumpkin south of the Mason- Dixon, etc. I'm confident
you will see this type of thing to share the wealth. Stay tuned, the steering
committee is aware of the situation. My guess is that you will see lower site
fees and more prizes to spread around so all sites can get in on the action.
