Re: Pumpkins keep bursting open

Wow, I need some advise. My first pumpkin split
last week. I thought because of the hot weather.
So I covered my next one and this morning it was cracked
open just like the last. What can I do to keep my next pumpkin
from bursting open? Any help will be appreciated. I sure
want a "Duncan The Pumpin" for this year.
Also have had squash bugs, Sevins hasn't slowed them down yet.
The best thing is to squash them and I do when ever I see them. But
thoses little guys keep hiding out on me. I know they're out there, just
got to find them. What is the best thing I can spray them with?
 Thanks,
 Belle from Ky

Squash bugs have out lasted evey spray I have every seen or hear
invented. The only way that I have had succes CONTROLING them is to
water a ton and wach them run for high groun on the plant. I hand
pick them and smash. Also, be sure that you are rotaing your crop
area if possible. They winter over in dead grass, bark, ect. If
they wake up in the spring and find no cucurbits then they have a
hard time surviving.
