Why hand pollinate?


I wonder about this myself. Seems nature certainly does as good a job as 
I do. Blossoms down in the hot south last only a few hours. Just guess 
one has to back nature up a bit here. Pollination in 90 degree weather 
should be followed by a well constructed cooling strategey if you want 
to keep the females from aborting, and that should be kept up for as 
much as 2-3 days if the weather stays hot. In recent posts I discribed a 
technique using milk jugs with frozen water combined with a wet towel 
wrapping that takes advantage of evaporation for cooling. If interested
