I would just like to mention the future of the Southern Cup and the
Southern Alliance Free Seed Bank.
In terms of the Cup I will most certainly see this season through and
Award the Cup to whomever grows the largest Southern Pumpkin. Remember
it is a traveling cup and will be replaced with something respectable
commemorating the victory but the cup itself will return after 11 months
to be gotten ready for the new champion. Their names will be etched on
the cup base under Jim Asberry and his 716.5 beauty of l991. I will
offer the Trophy to the GPC in hopes they will carry on the tradition of
the Southern Cup the following year and for the years to come.
In terms of the Free Seed Bank I would like to carry on the AG part of
that myself and would hope that whomever heads the SPGA in the future
could assist me in handing on requests to my home address. This was one
of the most enjoyable aspects of the Southern effort.
Whatever the case I will do my best to establish these as Southern
traditions. Thanks again.
