vine split

friends, i have an ag plant 2' tall and was tipping over and the main
vine split about 5". i had it supported with bamboo and panty hose but,
it split anyway. i packed the split with captan. is there any chance
this vine will heal ? if it does not is there any chance that another
vine will take over? could this plant still produce a good pumpkin if
it heals or if another vine takes over? thanks,Doug Adams Carrollton,
