Oregon News Flash

Today I was at work and got this stomach ache and head ache. Fearing it was a
migraine starting up I left early and came home in the heat of the day. I
arrived home to see the big babies all limp and lifeless for the heat low that
is approaching from the south hit Canby earlier that it was t ohit Portland.
It was fate that led me home to save my plants. It was 76 and partly cloudy
in Portland and only 20 miles away here in the patch it was direct sunlight,
light wind and 87 degrees. Hardest hit was the #875 Lloyd, with a 10 percent
leaf loss to the plant, and a 5% loss to the other 7. No explosions on the
pumpkins, no new cracks, just 30 minutes away from total catastrophy in the
patch. Quick thinking and a lot of water saved the plants from certain doom,
well, maybe just lots of luck and a lot of water.
