Re: great expectations

Aren't Kids great !!! two years I grew two one 50 lb. the other 75lbs.
my personal best. I lived in Utah were conditions weren't the best and
neither was my garden spot. My then 6 year old daughter who helped me
grow them, thought I was the greatest dad in the world - there we the
biggest pumpkins she had ever seen. They were the biggest that most all
my neighbor had seen too.

let me tell you true personal story: many years ago I had to pick up
two friends from the bus depot, one on a Friday and one on a Saturday.
it was just over 1 mile to my house from the depot. one Friday I walked
down to the depot and met my friend. As we started back he asked how
far it was to my house - since I had walked it several time and was used
to it - I said " oh not to far". from then on about every 2-3 min he
would ask are we almost there yet or how far is it. By the time we got
home he said boy that was sure a long walk. The next day I met my second
friend. as we started walking I told him that it was a long walk home.
The next thing we knew we were home. He said to me that the walk wasn't
that bad. What the difference between my two friends? only what I had
told them.

If you give someone a low expectation then you exceed it then you look
great. if you give someone a high expectation and don't meet it then
you look bad. or just meet it then you look OK.
So if I were you I would tell your son that you would expect to grow a
25-30 pounder.

I don't know your climate or garden conditions but my guess is that you
could grow a 100 pounder. just a guess.
