I posted this but no one replied...........SOMEONE has got to be growing
these!
I need some advice on this! PLEASE help!
O.K., yesterday I checked the hill with the 550 Cramer and 618 Wallace. Well
the Cramer looks better than it did, it is about 2.5 feet long and the leaves
are bigger than the Wallace by a bit. The Wallace still is longer, about 4
feet long. But NOW I notice that the stem of the Wallace is flattening
somewhat, about 2 inches wide, and has yellow streaked along it, and a small
crack in the stem (1/8 inch wide and an inch or so long). I was JUST ready to
cut off the Cramer to give all the energy to the Wallace, but now this!!!!!
Now I am confused. I need some help in deciding what to do! I know I should
pull (cut off) one of them soon, so they stop competing with each other.
(Right)?
Oh and another weird thing. The yellowing between the veins I reported on the
Cramer seems to have cleared up (it was only a little on a couple older
leaves)/ I sprayed them both with epsom salt solution. But I figured it was a
lack of magnesium due to a phosphorus overload, but I just did soil tests on
them (with a Rapitest kit) and beleive it or not, Nitrogen was just barely
sufficient, Phosphorus was on the LOW end, and Potash was bordering on
depleted! (And this soil is RICH, tons of composted wood chips and grass added
each year)! Anyway that seemed to rule out the magnesium deficiency due to P
overload! (And now I know to add extra K when fruit are set, for SURE).
Well, anyway, does anyone have any advice for me about any of this?! Should I
wait longer? Should I pull the Cramer? Is the flattening vine on the Wallace a
REALLY bad sign?! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
