Buffer pumpkins? 2 vines per hill, etc.?

I know this was talked about before, but have their been any 800+ pound
pumpkins that were grown in a hill with 2 vines, OR on a vine with another
pumpkin left on it?
THAT is the question! Does anyone know?
I was thinking of trying a buffer pumpkin with the 627.5 Hester, (if the seed
ever comes!), since it has a reputation for exploding pumpkins. But I am not
sure, that technique still seems a little iffy. I mean HAS there been any
really big ones grown this way?
