Would someone please explain "vine positioning"? This is my first year.
Thank You..
David.....

This is when you bend a V in the vine with the bottom of the v being
at the stem of your pumpkin. So, if you were lookin from the hill
towards the tip of the plant you would see about a 1 foot bend in the
vine towards the pumpkin. You want to position the vine slowly so as
not to crack it. The reason that you want to do this is your pumpkin
could grow over your vine and crush it, ending your season in a most
unpleasant way. If you were to look at your fruit from above as it
grows, you should notice that the center of the pumpkin stays over
the same place, creating this problem. When you hear people talk
about 60" groth, you can understand why.
