Many thanks to Chris for the donation of male flowers and Gordon in Maple
Valley for his offer too! Happily, for both me and my pumpkins, I
pollinated one female on Saturday morning, about the size of a plum. Sunday
it was baseball sized, and today, it is the size of a large softball! What
speed! We pollinated several others but none are growing at the rate this
little baby has started! When do you have to start shading them? The leaf
cover is fine for now but the weather is sooooo hot. Also, how do you get
the seeds of all thos really big pumpkins, like Holland 897, etc. I keep
reading about? Pardon my questions, but this is our first year and the
learning curve is steep!

Thanks in advance.
