Vine Borer?

Near the taproot on 10% of my vines, there appears to be a large, mostly
circular rotting spot. In some of
the larger vines, I can put my little finger into the holed-out center
of the vice. The affected vines' leaves are wilted
during the afternoon, but spring back firm in the evening/morning. I
have been watering to assist with the moisture
every 3 days (depending upon rain). Do I have a vine borer problem?
