Well, deep subject, I wish I had better news, but here it goes,
Site one the #875 Lloyd has been half way removed to make more room for the
#697 Ciliberto. The Lloyd aborted everything it had at the cantelope size. I
can't figure the reason yet.
Site two the #615 is aborting everything too. I am letting one more round of
young ones on for the late Supermall weighoff. I hope one sets at least. The
#697 Ciliberto is aborting a few too, but I think its from the heat. I do
have 2 nice fruit on the plant however, one of which is doing good.
Site #3 the #825 Shymanski, I had a mouse or something settle into the old
crack ing the main root system and took out the main root. I severed all the
runners from it and now have basically 4 Shymanski plants. I have one fruit
on each "plant" and although they are growing slow, they are growing and
speeding up with every inch of new runner I bury.
Site #4 the #827 Holland Anyone want a set of tires for your mud buggy? I
got them here. I wont complain about their growth rate, but their shape has
nothing to be desired. 4 nice pumpkins left with one really nice one.
Site #5 the #567.5 Mombert is doing better now that I removed Big Bertha and
Tyra. I have 3 decent fruit on that plant and will set a really young one for
the Supermall this week.
Site #6 the #469 has 3 nice fruit on it. really light in color, but have big
stems and steady growth. There is potential there. The #627.5 has my biggest
pumpkin by farrrrrrrrr. It has three stem splits darn it and the newest is
really bad. As of this morning the seed cavaity had not been comprimised, but
it was a crack that went into the shell behind the stem some 3 inches. If it
does go down on me I will take good pictures and document its size and how
quickly it reached its size. Yesterday it gained an three way estimate of 36
pounds. Oh what the heck, I'll say it. Circumfrence measured 102 inches, OTW
was 67 inches, and OTL was 70 inches. Its shape is the carbon copy of the
#939 Emmons pumpkin back in 1995 even where the stem splits are. At the
current rate of growth I could have 350 pounds by August first if I can hold
it together. Scar was set on June 29th and is a 5 lober.
Does anyone have any idea how big the #1061 Zehr was on August 1st? God I
wish Scar would hold together.
Good Luck to all,
Brett The Pumpkinguru Hester
