Something I came up with....
Pollinated Fruit (or Flower) Coolant Syatem (or Structure)
You use a big tomato cage around each pollinated flower, use white foam
around the base and a cheap thermometer next to the flower. A block of ice,
ice sack, or "blue ice" is placed on the top of the tomato cage and secured
(you can use a cloth "sling" for it to set on). That is then covered with
more white foam. This sets up a make shift "cooler" without totally enclosing
the area. The cold will sink down and stay in the area of the flower, because
of the white foam border. It is MUCH more eefficient then any other method.
And will last at least 5 times longer, especially if blue ice is used and
rotated, and kept covered with white foam. This can reduce the temp of the
fruit by 20 degrees or more. If it is 100 out, the fruit area could stay in
the upper 70's or less.
You can change stuff around (more or less foam, more or less ice) until the
thermometer reads the ideal temp. This structure will also provide shade.
Just a little USEFUL information! Now I have to go drink some more Kool-Aid,
it is almost 100 here now! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
