Afellow grower that lives near us has been battling the same problem for
the last 3 years. His problem got so bad that they were eating a hole
into the sides of the male flowers 1 to 2 days before they open. Once
inside they would chew the heck out of all the pollin. What he does now
is goes out and nylons all the soon to open females and then harvest
about as many males as he thinks he'll need for morning pollination the
night before. Places the stems of the males in a vase and in the AM they
will open in the house. This would work to keep the males dry if rain is
in the forcast!!  some thoughts
