I am sorry to hear your hard work went down the drain like that, but thanks 
for the advice.  I personally only have one pumpkin on each of my plants and 
maybe this is more evidence that one pumpkin per plant is the better 
approach or maybe your idea of cutting off gradually is better, regardless, 
sorry to hear about your baby
