pumpkin shape

Hello to all,

It has been a while since I have posted a message to the group but
the first half of the season has been rather busy. Anyways, here is my
question I have a nice pumpkin going that is a new shape to me. I haven't
had any experience with a pumpkin of this shape before. It is basically a
rectangle shape. It is very long and the stem and blossom end are basically
the same size with a very slight bulge in the middle. At 9 days it is 28"
in Circ.(a full 5 inches ahead of my previous best) and 11 inches long from
end to end. I am a little worried about the growth rate but would it make
sense that a pumpkin of this shape would have a naturally larger circ. than
more round pumpkins? And is this a good shape to keep? Are they prone to
splitting anymore than other shapes. Any advice/experiences would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

P.S. Anybody got a good ones going from the seeds I sent out this year?
