pumpkin split

My largest pumpkin got "scraped" by a rabbit.  The rabbit made a small
1/4 by 1/4 inch scrape with its teeth.  This was when the pumpkin was
the size of a softball.

Now the pumpkin is the size of a watermelon and the scar is 1/2"x1/2".
Will this scrape, which is not too deep, cause the pumpkin to split
later on?
