Re: pumpkin scar

Rick:

I had a similar problem this year, gouging my best pumpkin with the edge of a
cardboard box I was using for a cover. The wound was about 4 inches long and
quite deep. A dusting of Captan in the wound healed things up nicely.

As the pumpkin grew, so did the scar. The scar was superficial, and did not
cause any splitting or cracking. In fact, there was no evidence of the wound
except on the skin. I examined the fruit thoroughly after seed harvest.

Pumpkins have a miraculous way of healing themselves. A dusting of fungicide
helps assure success.
