PUMPKIN PANIC !!!

Help!

I have a pumpkin (88.5"c, 214"OTT) that has been doing great until
today. While patrolling my vines for squash vine borer grubs, I noticed
one had actually bored a hole in my pumpkin. I was unable to extract the
grub without doing major damage to the pumpkin as he bored straight in.
I am searching for source of captan, but in the mean time I have applied
a paste of a copper based fungicide. Am I doing the right thing? Will I
lose this pumpkin? Will the wound heal on its own? The entry hole is
about 1/4" in diameter. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks.
