This year has been like most things in life a sometimes bitter, sometimes
sweet, ....the bitter the uncontrolable weather and the lack of pumpkins
reaching numbers their goals......the sweet part has been the first year i
have grown from predominately my own seed. It is is extremely fascinating
to see traits carried on in both plant forms and fruit. Still i not sure I
can grasp the awesomeness of how genetics work. I have four daughters two
look like me and act like me ..poor children. And the other two look like
their mothers. The ones that don't pysically look like me seem to have
inherited my hidden traits........So where am i going with this.......AG's
of course..........I was wishful that the plants that seem to have taken on
the papa traits in most aspects ... are the fruits going to lean more
towards the female trait??..oh please!...............it is so awesome that
you get one parent or the other shinning through(to the eye) and also get
something that is new a combo look.......Theres something to be learned
growing from your own seed.............knowing and improving on the
conditions watching the traits perhaps some climatic
adaption............its like seeing an old friend
again.................wishing my pumpkin was 300lbs and whinning if it
ain't.........wishing for something miraculous........ but stuck facing the
music in Boonville....MB
to
P.S Its getting closer to when to shut down the plant...early or later??
Have your boundaries been hit? How does this tie in to the time factor of
the season?
